One of the often overlooked aspects of car maintenance is ensuring that the battery is in good working order. If your car's battery is unexpectedly dead, your day's work will really be strenuous. A car battery tester is a cost-effective way to test your battery. Make sure it ’s in good condition before you hit the road.
If you get into the habit of regularly checking your car's battery and the rest of your car's electrical system for signs of weak electricity, it's even better. To learn more about automotive battery testers, see our catalog.
1. What is a car battery tester?
Car battery tester, also known as car battery tester or car battery analyzer, or car battery tester or car battery tester, is a professional analysis and testing equipment for judging the working ability and health status of car batteries. Car battery for cars, although the proportion of cost is not high, but it plays a pivotal role in the entire car. Therefore, to know whether the car battery is still good, you can replace the car battery that will be scrapped in advance, which can effectively improve the service level and user satisfaction of the company, and bring the car battery manufacturers and distributors and other users in the test work of car batteries. Coming great convenience.
2.Why do I need a car battery tester?
You want to buy a car battery tester so that you can check the status of your car battery regularly. This way, you know exactly when the car battery is about to run out, so you can replace it before it is completely depleted and unable to charge. Most testers can afford it, and it's a small investment that saves you from the potential headaches of accidental stranding.
3. How to check the battery of the car ?
Prepare a universal meter that can be used normally, and prepare the car battery. The specific steps are as follows:
(1) Before connecting the meter in series, you need to set the meter first. First, select the type. Turn the knob to the DC current position. The mark is horizontal on the top, three dots in the middle, and a capital A on the bottom. This meter does not need to select a range. Ordinary multimeters need to choose a current of 10A or a DC of 20A.
(2) Then select the test lead position. The black test lead is always at the COM position, and the red test lead is DC 10A or DC 20A.
(3) Finally connect to the battery, first turn off the key and all electrical appliances on the car, and lock it remotely. Connect the red test lead to the battery cable and fix it firmly. Loosen the negative cable screw, connect the black test lead to the battery terminal, and then slowly remove the negative cable.
(4)Use a multimeter to connect the meter in series between the battery and the negative cable according to the correct connection method.
Normal leakage is below 30-50mA, this data is for reference only. General battery 65AH, 65AH battery, said to discharge at 1A per hour, can be stored for 65 hours.
5.Precautions for using multimeter
(1)Before using the multimeter, perform "mechanical zero adjustment" first, that is, when there is no measured power, make the multimeter pointer point at the position of zero voltage or zero current.
(2)During the process of using the multimeter, do not touch the metal part of the test lead with your hand. This can ensure the accuracy of the measurement on the one hand and the safety of the person on the other.
(3)When measuring a certain amount of electricity, you cannot shift gears at the same time as the measurement, especially when measuring high voltage or current. Otherwise, the multimeter will be destroyed. If you need to change gears, you should disconnect the test lead first, and then measure after changing gears.
(4)When using the multimeter, it must be placed horizontally to avoid causing errors. At the same time, we must also pay attention to avoid the influence of external magnetic field on the multimeter.
(5)After the multimeter is used, set the transfer switch to the maximum block of AC voltage. If it is not used for a long time, the battery inside the multimeter should also be taken out to prevent the battery from corroding other components in the meter.
